Hi y'all! I've been reading a book in school in school called Chains. And I decided to give you a summary/description about it in my own words. If you like the summary, go read it, then read the sequels. Btw, the book was set in the time of the American Revolution.
Isabel is a 12 year old, slave for the Locktons, her Loyalists masters. She was sold by her old mistress's nephew to the Locktons who live in New York. She moves along with her sister who they call simple-minded. Isabel is introduced to the rich lifestyle her masters have. Isabel is afraid for Ruth who is Madam Lockton's personal maid. She has been told stories of Madam beating slaves who didn't do her bidding. Her friend, Curzon gives her a choice to spy on her Loyalists master as Mr. Lockton is an important person. She has tough decision to makes in the troubling times of the Revolutionary War.
